Opuntia brasiliensis (Cactus)

It is a perennial cactus, which is similar to a tree. It develops a round and slender trunk, that thins up very gradually, forming oval and flattened branches of a bright green color. Its blades (ears) have areoles with white hairs, from which red-brown spines emerge. Light yellow flowers bloom at the ends of the stems in spring-summer. It produces yellow-orange or purple pear-shaped fruits.
