It is a small, fast-growing cactus that clusters easily. The stem is of a cylindrical shape, depressed at the apex, with well-defined ribs. The epidermis is of an intense green color. Numerous thin glassy white spines with a yellowish tip, similar to bristles, protrude from the downy areoles. Flowering occurs in spring and, like all Notocactus, generates beautiful and intriguing flowers with bright colors.
