Notocactus laetivirens (Cactus)

Solitary cactus characterized by a globose stem, slightly depressed at the apex, which does not reach large dimensions but fascinates collectors for its bright colors combined with an extremely elegant symmetry. N. laetivirens is furrowed by deep longitudinal ribs, very furrowed and close, along which, at regular intervals, roundish white and woolly areoles emerge. It has yellowish radial spines, thin and well straight, which radiate around the areola, and central spines facing outwards, longer and of a characteristic brownish hue. In summer, large solitary bright yellow flowers bloom at the top of the stem, particularly appreciated for their silky sheen absolutely unmatched!
