Melocactus schatzlii (Cactus)

This cactus exemplar with a spherical shape slightly flattened at the apex can become ovoid with growth. Its green, greyish green or glaucous stem is equipped with well marked ribs above which are located deep woolly areoles. Its thorns come out from these areolas and are radial and central: the central ones are few, robust and curved towards the outside of dark brown color. On the contrary, the radial spines are also robust and similar to the central ones, of greyish color. Its beautiful flowers of color ranging from pale pink to intense pink, bloom at the apex of the stem and reach 12 cm in diameter.
