Melocactus pachyacanthus (Cactus)

This specimen of cactus native to Brazil, is much appreciated for its very particular appearance. The green, bluish green, globose stem can reach 20 cm of diameter and has well marked vertical ribs. Above them we find the white and fluffy areola. The highlight of this cactus are the spines: the central ones are slightly curved brown while the radials are lighter and also slightly curved. Both are very robust and in some plants even hooked. The flowering period of M. pachyacanthus is spring-autumn and at the apex of the stem bloom flowers of a color ranging from pink to magenta pink with a diameter of up to 10 cm.
