Melocactus multiceps (Cactus)

Melocactus multiceps is one of the innumerable local forms of Melocactus ernestii (its scientific name is Melocactus ernestii var. multiceps), which is recognized by its more robust, dark brown spines. Its peculiarity lies in the fact, that in nature it can have up to 7 cephaliums on a single plant, sometimes some of those crested. It is a solitary cactus with a dark green body, furrowed by deep longitudinal ribs, equipped with whitish areoles and long straight, sturdy, reddish-brown spines, which darken at the apex.
