Melocactus curvispinus subs. caesius (Cactus)

A spherical cactus with a depressed apex, of a grayish green or a lighter green color, which can grow up to about 30 centimeters in diameter. It has deep grooves, equipped with white downy areoles, from which thin, elongated and curved reddish-brown spines emerge. With age the spines tend to become grayish and more robust. When the cactus stops growing, a whitish spherical cephalium develops at the apex of the plant (in this species much more downy than in others), formed by red bristles, from which small magenta flowers with thin petals bloom.
