Maihueniopsis darwinii (Cactus)

Very peculiar cactus, consisting of several segments that grow on top of each other and tend to branch out; they detach easily, but just as easily they are able to root to the ground, generating a sort of opaque dark green carpet that does not exceed 10 cm in height. Each cladode (segment) has stiff and extremely pointed spines, white and generally with flat margins. Its overall appearance is even more showy between late spring and early summer, when huge flowers in shades of yellow and orange bloom.
