Ferocactus horridus f. brevispinus (Cactus)

It is a slow-growing cactus with a solitary habit. Its green stem, initially globular, can develop into a columnar shape with a height of over two meters. With age, it can develop over forty well-marked and slightly wavy ribs along the crest, giving the plant a spiral shape. From the areoles, that frame the ribs, short, hooked and robust spines grow, which are of a brownish-gray color. It blooms with funnel-shaped flowers of a bright yellow color, that form some sort of a ring at the apex of the stem.
