Eriosyce aurata (Cactus)

It is a slow-growing cactus of a globular shape, which can reach up to 50 cm in diameter. Its stem consists of numerous ribs (up to 35), on which very downy areoles are formed. The spines are robust and rigid, slightly curved, of a color that fades from amber-yellow to dark brown, sometimes almost black. Only mature specimens produce flowers, which are of a red color; the plant generally blooms abondently, with up to 50 flowers per flowering season!
