It is a rare plant which is highly appreciated and sought after by green collectors. It is a cylindrical cactus of a considerable size, with time it can reach up to 1m in diameter. The stem, of an opaque greyish-green color, has multiple well-defined ribs, on which large round, downy white areoles sprout. It is equipped with thick, robust brownish-gray spines.
