Very rare cactaceae, mainly present in the arid and desert zones of South America, formed by a globose stem not exceeding a few centimetres of diameter, but it is however able to marvel for the extreme richness of details present in such reduced dimensions. It is equipped with conical tubercles deeply protruding and symmetrical, at the apex of which, from white roundish areoles, emerge short whitish, thin and needle-like spines, not very thick. As typical of most of the species of Copiapoa, its epidermis is easily dyed purple even very dark when exposed to the sun. Its shades create a wonderful chromatic contrast with the large delicate flowers that bloom at the apex on the notes of a tenuous yellowish-whitish, extremely perfumed and destined to remain open, contrary to other Cactaceae, even several days!
