Cephalocereus senilis (Cactus)

It is a columnar cactus that in nature can reach up to 15 m in height and about 40 cm in diameter! Generally it produces a solitary stem but, if it branches out, it does so exclusively at the base of the main stem. Numerous hair-like bristles emerge from large downy areoles, creating a wonderful whitish down, which covers the whole body of the plant. The central spines are instead very thin, of a yellowish color. With maturity the plant stops growing in height, developing a cephalium at the top. In summer, mature plants produce funnel-shaped, yellowish-pink flowers that bloom at night.
