Ariocarpus lloydii (Cactus)

Extremely rare and peculiar cactus, which like all Ariocarpus has a very different appearance from the typical thorny cactus. It has a large root, which compared to other specimens of the genus is more raised from the ground and more rounded, often partially exposed in the pots; from the latter rise large pointed dark green tubercles, arranged in a rosette as if they were leaves and adorned with the characteristic whitish down in the central part. In the wild, in the small areas of origin, Ariocarpus Lloydii remains almost completely underground to protect itself from atmospheric agents and animals, showing itself only at ground level or, even, being seen only thanks to the large flower that blooms in autumn, generally pink purplish and often larger in size than the cactus itself.
