Description:

T. terscheckii is a specimen of Argentinian columnar cactus that reaches 12m in height also called Cardon grande. It has a green stem that with the passage of time can become almost glaucous; it reaches 45 cm in diameter and is equipped with numerous tuberculate ribs well marked. Above the tubercles are placed the fluffy white areoles from which emerge its yellow spines which with the passage of time become brownish and even exceed 8 cm in length. This wonderful cactus blooms all year round but mostly in summer and is particularly appreciated for its inflorescences. Its funnel-shaped flowers are large with a diameter that exceeds 12 cm and bloom at night at the apex of the stem. They have cream white petals with pinkish shades on the edges.

Plant care:

It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 6 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately, only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, once a month in autumn and to suspend watering completely in winter.

The best option is a soil suitable for cacti, even better if further mixed with pumice or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
