Thelocactus bicolor

This cactus is also commonly known as "Texas glory", to indicate, how the populations of these areas are proud of the origin of this currently widespread plant. It has a solitary greyish-green stem of a slightly ovate shape, equipped with wide and tuberculous ribs, sometimes arranged in a slight spiral. The characteristic, for which they became so popular, are undoubtedly their long colorful spines, which range in color from yellow to red. Another very important feature are their rather large, bell-shaped inflorescences, that bloom at the apex, generally also of a double color, with a throat of a more vivid color, rather than that of the ends; each petal is characterized by an extremely silky sheen.
