This globe-shaped cactus is highly valued for its unique appearance. Thanks to its monstrous shape, it presents anomalies such as asymmetries, reliefs, deformities or lack of thorns that make this plant unique. In its normal form S. rauschii has a stem equipped with tubercles with shades ranging from dark green to purple. The aureoles are fluffy and white, from which emerge small black radial spines that cover the entire plant. During the flowering period, beautiful pink or reddish flowers bloom at the top of the stem.
