Description:
A solitary cactus with a rather slow growth and of a small size. It resembles a small pine cone, having a spherical and flattened body, enriched laterally by long calcified spines and by white down at the apex on which funnel-shaped cream-colored flowers bloom.

Plant care:
It requires an exposure to full sun, however during the hottest hours it is advisable to place it in shade. The plants in the growth phase are preferably to be placed in shaded but at the same time quite bright positions.
It prefers temperatures between 20 and 30 °C, though it resists even lower temperatures, but not below 6-8 °C: in winter it is therefore advisable to shelter it.
Water moderately in hot weather, only when the soil is completely dry. In winter, on the other hand, it is advisable to completely stop watering.
A well-draining and mineral-rich substrate is an optimal solution, for example a soil suitable for cactaceae, to which fine gravel can be added.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
