Description:

Beautiful small succulent that initially can resemble a cactus due to its stem rich in ribs slightly pointed to the apices. It has a green color that after exposure to the sun takes purple hues. The characteristic, which distinguishes S. flavopurpurea from other types of Stapelia, is the sweet and pleasant scent of its flowers. In fact, usually the flowers of these succulents emit unpleasant smells. Small in size, with a waxy appearance and tiny ridges that make them similar to starfish, these flowers create a very eye-catching visual impact thanks to the bright colors, which vary from white, yellow, orange, purple to green with bordeaux shades. The center of the white flower is covered with fine and very short red hairs. The flowering period is late summer-autumn.

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sun rays especially during the hottest hours of the day, as long as they might burn the leaves.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures, never below 12 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it (in a dry place) during the winter period.

Water regularly in summer, but only when the soil is dry. In cold periods, considerably reduce watering (once every 1-2 months).

It is better to use a specific substrate for succulents, to which you can add fine sand for better drainaige.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
