Description:

Rhipsalis pachyptera is a particular cactaceae, beautiful and loved by all, it is also very versatile, just think that it can be used both as an indoor plant and as an outdoor plant (if put in suspended pots away from direct atmospheric agents). The colouration of its ovoid leaves, elongated on the tips, is a unique spectacle; it goes from shades of yellow, red, to green and even a hint of pink. This species should not be left in direct sunlight, because this could cause damage to the leaves, burning them and causing them to change color. At the same time, however, it should be noted that without a good dose of light, the plant will struggle to grow and for this reason it is often recommended to alternate light and shade during the day. Rhipsalis pachyptera does not resist drought so it is important a consistent watering, although , as for other cacti too much water could cause a state of rot. It can’t stand the cold, and prefers a mild climate.

Plant care:

It likes a lot of brightness, however avoid direct sunlight.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to place it in sheltered places: it adapts perfectly to the temperatures of apartments and offices.

It is advisable to always keep the soil fairly moist, never dry, therefore we recommend frequent but very light watering. Beware of stagnant water that could cause rotting.

A soil suitable for cacti is an optimal solution, even better if further mixed with pumice.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
