Description:

The crested shape of this cactus presents the typical compact fan arrangement, which makes each exemplar absolutely unique, never identical to another and for this reason so much appreciated by collectors. In its normal form it is a cactus very widespread in almost all the world, consisting of small size (hence the name of the species) with globose stem, slightly depressed at the apex, tending with growth to become abundantly creating a thick cushion of multiple suckers that do not exceed a few centimeters in diameter. Equipped with numerous tubercles, little pronounced, has small areoles from which emerge short tufts of thorns, extremely thin of shades ranging from almost vitreous white (especially in exemplars with reduced lighting) to intense yellow (when the solar radiation is massive).

Plant care:

It requires a lot of light during all seasons, however avoid direct sun rays during the hottest hours of the day, as they could cause burns.

It prefers rather mild temperatures, yet it is very resistant. However, it is preferable to keep it at temperatures above 0 °C.

Water moderately, only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, once a month in autumn and to suspend watering completely in winter.

A soil suitable for cacti is an optimal solution, even better if it is further mixed with 50% of pumice or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
