Very particular cactaceae, especially for what concerns the inflorescence: it is one of the very rare examples of rebutia with big white and delicate flowers, instead of magenta or red ones. It has a globose or slightly cylindrical stem, which does not exceed 4 cm in diameter. Its epidermis is of a beautiful dark green and tends to be violaceous in the sun exposure. From the hexagonal tubercles come out some very short radial spines, darker at the base and paler on the tips, which wrap the body of the cactus. Usually, there are no central spines or, at times, a single blackish sting may be present. R. leucanthema is particularly loved for the wonderful chromatic contrast that is generated between the plant and the inflorescences, maintaining the sobriety and the delicacy that distinguishes it.
