It is similar to the Rebutia heliosa, but this one has long spines. In nature it can be found solitary, however, when cultivated, it tends to cluster. The silver-white spines are dense, which completely wrap up the plant. It has a fleshy taproot. Flowers, as for the majority of the Rebutia varieties, are trumpet-shaped, of a red-orange color.
