Polaskia

Its name was given by a great American cactus enthusiast, called Charles Polaski. It is one of the cacti par excellence, the undisputed king of its family for its typical columnar shape, deep ribs and numerous branches, that develop as the plant grows, giving it a solemn and majestic appearance, that distinguishes it. In summer the Polaskia will delight you with its large unmistakable flowers, which are large, with yellow stamens and white flowers but with shades of pink or green. They bloom in the middle of summer and grow along the areoles near the top of each branch. It will bring the desert charm and liveliness to your gardens, all accompanied by great resistance to thermal changes! Here are some easy tips for its proper care and cultivation: It likes an exposure to full sun in rather airy locations. It prefers rather mild temperatures, however it still survives even at temperatures close to freezing if the soil is dry. Water regularly on a weekly basis in spring-summer, always making sure that the soil is always dry between one watering and another one, avoiding stagnation of water. During the winter period, suspend watering. A soil suitable for cacti is an optimal solution, even better if further mixed with pumice. Those are plants that do not need frequent fertilization, for that reason it will be sufficient to dilute a specific cacti fertilizer with watering once a year.
