Parodia aureicentra

Better known as Parodia rauschii, this solitary cactus has a dark green stem, characterized by spiraled ribs (up to 15), covered by woolly white areolas from which dense central dark yellowish spines emerge. Hence the epithet aureicentra, from the Latin aureus "yellow" and centrum "middle". In its flowering season it produces beautiful flowers at the apex ranging from orange to bright red.
