The variegated shape of this exemplar has yellowish shades or spots due to the lack of chlorophyll in the epidermis, this characteristic makes the plant unique in its kind and for this reason very sought after by collectors. In the normal form, it is a very slow growing succulent caudiciform. It can reach the height of 1-2 m. It grows in the form of a shrub. Its gray-green trunk is covered with thorns. The slightly wavy lanceolate leaves have a green color. Its large flowers have a color ranging from white to purple. In the period of vegetative rest it loses its leaves. The caudex stores water to survive drought.
