Pachyphytum 'Machucae baby finger' f. crestata

16.00€

Art. 55200
Available: 0

Size:
Pot: 10 cm.
Family:
Crassulaceae
Origin:
The crested shape of this original succulent presents the typical fan layout that makes each exemplar absolutely unique, never identical to another and for this reason so much appreciated by collectors! In its normal form the plant is placed in the typical very compact rosette, tending to turn abundantly to create wonderful tufts with multiple heads, almost like a peculiar bouquet. Its leaves are extremely fleshy, almost cylindrical and ending in a slightly more tapered shape, which has given it the common name of "baby finger" because they recall the chubby fingers of a child. One of the most interesting aspects of P. ˈ Machucae' is its coloration: the epidermis is in fact tinged with pink-lavender notes, which tend to accentuate their purple hue when they are abundantly exposed to sunlight. The complex results in a pleasantly opaque consistency thanks to the plum that covers the leaf surface and protects it from atmospheric agents, giving it a soft, almost whitish, nuance that makes it even more graceful and elegant.

Description:

Its name derives from Greek and literally means "big plant", referring mostly not to the size of the succulent, which is actually of a moderate size (maximum half a meter), but to the fleshyness of its leaves, which sometimes take a rounded shape. They are of a light green or grayish color, tinged with red, if exposed to the sun, the leaves are directly attached to the stem and are very fragile, often with just a little tough they fall off, but this is not a defect: you can ground the fallen leaves, and in a very short time they will reproduce roots and will give life to new plants! Here are some tips for its cultivation: Place the plant in a bright place, in direct contact with sunrays, especially in autumn, making its leaves take on more intense colors. Keep it at mild temperatures and never below 8 °C. It is recommended to shelter it during winter. Water moderately, only when the soil is completely dry. Once a week in spring and summer and once a month in autumn and winter. A well-draining and porous soil is optimal, better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice or lapilli. They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
