Ortegocactus macdougallii

The name of the species honors Tom Macdougall, who discovered it. It is a miniature globular cactus, which does not exceed 4 centimeters in diameter; its greyish-green stem is furrowed by rhomboid tubercles, arranged in a spiral, which gives this small plant an effect of perfect symmetry. Very particular spines emerge from slightly downy areoles, which are quite robust, of a dark, almost black, color. Its perfect appearance is further accentuated and enlivened when, from the apex, beautiful funnel-shaped flowers bloom with inner yellow petals, with the outer ones, enriched with purple hues, which create a truly unique overall effect!
