Opuntia subcylindrica

It's a cactaceae extremely rare to find in nature, growing in very small isolated areas of Brazil, forming dense accestimenti with multiple stems. The stems, as happens for most of the specimens of the genus Opuntia, are formed by numerous cladodes. These ones are contiguous segments with an almost cylindrical shape, vaguely flattened (hence the name of the species "subcylindrica"). Unlike other species, however, this specimen has tiny spines that are heavily embedded within the areoles, allowing it to be imperceptible to the touch. Between spring and summer the charm of this cactus is amplified by wonderful large flowers of an extremely bright orange, perfect to bring a breath of vitality to your locations!
