Its name comes from the Greek and literally means "leaf with an eye", in reference to the main characteristic of these small succulents similar to living stones: in the center, between the only two leaves extremely fleshy, there is an eye-like window, which helps the plant to absorb sunlight and spread it up to the depth of the stem, which often remains underground to protect itself from excessive heat or cold. The body of this succulent has a beautiful glabrous green color, clear and very lively, which makes this plant extremely sought after by collectors all over the world. After prolonged exposure to the sun, it becomes yellowish. The leaves are very fleshy and, at the apex, become almost transparent (hence the name of the species). During the flowering period, in autumn, O. limpidum gives us beautiful flowers with delicate colors, white or pale pink.
