Notocactus tabularis f. bommeljei

N. tabularis is a variety of Notocactus native to Brazil, more precisely in the areas of Rio Grande. It has a globose dark green stem with well marked vertical ribs. On the tubercles in the ribs, we notice the white and fluffy areoles which contrast with the green of the epidermis. The radial and central spines protrude from the areola: the first are numerous, thin and radially arranged; the second are less numerous and more robust. During spring and early summer, the beautiful flowers of this cactus bloom at the apex of the stem. They have elegant petals, of colour ranging from bright yellow to russet and are large compared to the stem. This specimen cannot be missing in your collection.
