Notocactus rutilans

Its name comes from ancient Latin and refers to the reddish-orange color of the thorns. It is a solitary cactus with a globular shape spiraling with age, made up of vertical and slightly spiraling ribs between which sprout large fluffy areoles. The spines create a very striking contrast between them: on one hand, the very short and straight radial ones take on whitish shades with a darker tip, on the other the stronger, longer central spines are light red, up to 3 cm in length. In spring the charm of this cactus is amplified by its large flowers, with white throat and pink or reddish petals, able to give a wonderful touch of color to your spaces!
