Notocactus mammulosus f. crested

The crested shape of this cactus has in some parts the typical compact fan arrangement, which makes each exemplar absolutely unique, never identical to another and for this reason so much appreciated by collectors. In its normal form it is a solitary globose cactus with well-defined ribs and numerous spines. Its dark green stem shows a slight concavity at the apex, covered by a thick white down. He is also known as "Tom Thumb" and "Lemon Ball". The spines are thick, straight in a color that can vary from white to brown; while the radial spines are thin in white-brownish color. In summer you can admire its beautiful flowers of an intense yellow with pink shades.
