Description:
Beautiful globe-shaped cactus, initially solitary but with growth it creates new stems. The variegation gives it a unique and unmistakable look. Its stem has colours varying from the dark green to the violaceous, after the exposition to the sun. These shades contrast perfectly with the yellow color of the variegation, for a very pleasant visual effect. There are several pronounced ribs covered by very dark thorns that can turn gray while the plant grows. Its flowers bloom at the apex of N. paucicostata and may have colors ranging from cream white, pink, to yellowish with some green shades.

Plant care:
It likes very bright places, however, avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day.
It prefers rather mild temperatures, however it still survives even at temperatures close to freezing if the soil is dry.
Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, and suspend watering completely in winter.
The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
