Peculiar solitary cactacea, formed by a globose stem, tending to become cylindrical with growth up to reach even 20 cm in height. Equipped with ribs rich in tubercles not particularly protruding, N. eriocephala boasts a remarkable change of spines during the growth: characterized by a few sparse spines tending to black during the juvenile phase, in mature age the quills increase, becoming greyish, more robust and even 3 cm long. The overall effect is therefore extremely wild and thorny, in pleasant contrast to the lively and elegant funnel-shaped flowers that bloom at the apex of the cactus and liven up your environments with their pink or reddish notes
