Description:

Perennial succulent plant with fleshy green stems covered by numerous tubercles equipped with small and sparse spines at the apex; growing, Monadenium tends to take a abundantly accestita disposition. The variegated shape of this cactus presents the typical lighter areas in the exact points where the chlorophyll is absent: these characteristics will never be the same from one plant to another, therefore each exemplar will be absolutely unique and, for this reason, highly sought after by collectors. With prolonged exposure to the sun, the green leaves can take on a more purplish color. The small flowers are of a color that varies from light pink to purple, they do not have petals, so they can be called cyathia. It’s an easy-growing plant. Synonym: Euphorbia ritchiei.

Plant care:

It likes very bright places, however, avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day. It prefers environments with low humidity.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 15 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer and suspend watering completely in winter.

A well-draining soil is an optimal solution, even better if further enriched with 50% or more of inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
