Description:
Cactacea from the mountainous areas of S. America, which immediately impresses for its bright appearance, with several heads of various sizes that create a kind of wonderful spiny pillow. Each stem, globose or slightly cylindrical, does not exceed the 4 cm of diameter and has a nice dark green tonality that changes into violet when exposed to the sun. From the tubercles, grow thin short white spines which are arranged radially flattening towards the stem, almost wanting to wrap it. From spring to summer M. haagei will brighten your gardens showing up amazing large flowers with an extremely lively salmon-pink or orange color!

Plant care:
It likes very bright places, however, avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day.
It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, suspend watering completely in autumn and winter.
The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.
They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
