Description:

Cultivar The variegated shape of this cactus presents yellow areas in the exact points where there is a lack of chlorophyll; such stains or streaks never appear equal in plants making each of them unique and highly appreciated by collectors around the world. In its normal form it is a cactus of intense green color with a globose and tufted stem. The mother plant does not grow much, but continues to produce many suckers that extend to form almost a kind of pillow. The areolas during the growth of the plant change: first they are clear and hairy and then they become gray and naked. In the young exemplars the spines are thin and short, whereas the mature plants have the longest and thickest spines. The flower is light red with orange petals and shades of red. It is a plant of easy cultivation. His name honors the German botanist Frank Polz.

Plant care:

It likes very bright places, however, avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day. It prefers environments with low humidity.

It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 7 ° C, for this reason it is recommended to place it in sheltered and ventilated places during the winter period.

Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer, suspend watering completely in autumn and winter.

The best soil is a well-draining one, even better if further enriched with inert materials such as pumice, sand or lapilli.

They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
