Description:
It is a rare climbing plant, highly appreciated and sought after by green collectors for its caudex, which is very unusual, due to corky tubercles, and which can reach up to 30 cm in diameter. In spring, when the plant enters the vegetative period, it produces long stems, on which green opposite heart-shaped leaves appear, up to about 10 cm long. During the flowering period, its wonderful small purple 5-lobed inflorescences bloom. It is deciduous, meaning it loses its leaves during vegetative rest and then grows them back. Matelea cyclophylla is a very decorative plant, ideal for adorning any type of environment.

It likes shaded spaces or bright but devoid of direct sunlight, trying to keep the caudex in shade.
It is very resistant to high temperatures, while it is advisable to avoid temperatures below 15 °C, therefore it should be sheltered in winter.
It needs quite frequent watering during the vegetative period, while it is advisable to completely suspend water supplies in winter.
A rather acid and, above all, very well draining substrate is an optimal solution, as it fears any water stagnation.
They do not need frequent fertilizations, it is enough to dilute fertilizer with watering once a year.
