Massonia pustulata

Absolutely peculiar succulent, consisting of an underground and perennial bulb from which only one pair of leaves comes out annually very large, flat and adjacent to the ground, which are arranged in the opposite way with their almost rounded shape, slightly pointed at the apex. The epidermis of M. pustulata is of a nice dark green, very shiny, pleasantly rough to the touch thanks to the multiple blisters that dot the entire upper surface (from which derives the name of the species, from the Latin literally "rich of pustules"). At the center, between the two leaves, a large, absolutely unusual, candid flower blooms: consisting of countless thin filaments facing upwards, the inflorescence takes on the appearance of a real brush!
