It is an extremely popular plant for its spectacular white umbrella-like inflorescences, which bloom from the center of the pair of leaves. The only two leaves present are oblong, flat, which lie on the ground, one opposite the other, like an open book, of a lively intense green color. The name of the species derives from the fact that its inflorescences are strongly perfumed, with tones reminiscent of the intense smell of jasmine.
