Mammillaria weingartiana

Cactus with a spherical body, which does not exceed 5 cm in diameter and in nature often tends to grow partially underground to defend against atmospheric agents. It has perfectly rhomboidal and rather pronounced tubercles, from which come out roundish and candid areoles. The radial spines are white and straight, extremely thin and short, arranged radially around the areola. The central ones are brown-reddish, longer, initially hooked but tending then to become straight. One of the reasons for which this cactus is undoubtedly very appreciated is its flowering: unlike most species of the genus Mammillaria, M. weingartiana develops its beautiful cream flowers with brown-pink veins several times during the year, often even in the middle of winter!
