Mammillaria varieaculeata

In Spanish it is called "Biznaga de espinas variables" - "Plant with variable spines", which explains the bizarre bearing of the spines, since each of them has different lengths. The green stem is semi-cylindrical and branches easily. The funnel-shaped red flowers are diurnal. M. varieaculeata naturally grows in tropical forests.
