It is a small-sized cactus, which tends to cluster, while it grows. It consists of bright green bodies with very pronounced cylindrical tubercles, which is why it is often associated with a Dolichothele. It has not very large white areoles, equipped with white and long, flexible, bristle-like radial spines. that cover the plant completely, and much longer dark brown spines, similar to hair, that distinguish it easily from other varieties of its species. In spring, this plant produces relatively larger bright yellow flowers, instead of the typical Mammillaria’s flowers.
