Mammillaria senilis

It is a very particular and elegant cactaceae, of a perfectly spherical shape, completely covered with long candid white spines, rather thin and sometimes hooked. This clear and bright appearance makes the cactus resemble a snowball or a cotton swab, although, with the spines so curved, it is not as soft and harmless, as it might seem! At the beginning of spring, the elegance of Mammillaria senilis is accentuated by the strong contrast, that the large, very lively red flowers create with the delicacy of the whiteness of the body.
