Beautiful cactus with an extremely wild appearance, consisting of a globose and depressed stem at the apex, which with the growth tends to take on a cylindrical shape and to become abundantly attached to the base. Equipped with conical tubercles and with a slightly spiraled disposition, it has roundish and woolly areoles, from which come out whitish and extremely slender radial spines, short and radially arranged around the areola almost to wrap the stem; the central spines, on the contrary, are more robust and longer, at times hooked, and face outwards and upwards with their showy reddish-brownish colouration. In spring the charm of this Mexican cactus is further accentuated by graceful funnel-shaped flowers on the notes of violet shaded towards the central white, which will crown the apex of M. rossiana making it absolutely unique!
