The crested shape of this plant looks like a thorny fan, a feature that is never the same in plants and for this reason makes each exemplar unique in its kind. In its normal form M. Hernandezii is a globose cactus about 2 centimeters in diameter. Its epidermis of a beautiful dark and intense green is equipped with pyramidal tubercles and well detached from the body, at the apex of which the real highlight of this plant is shown: from small white and roundish areolas emerge wonderful white spines arranged like rays, short and slightly curved towards the body. The appearance of Mammillaria hernandezii changes considerably and unexpectedly in the autumn and winter periods, when its whiteness is interrupted by bright red flowers. This cactus, with its thorns so particular, at first glance seems to be covered with many small white flowers: so small, but really great charm!
