Mammillaria californica

Pleasant cactus with a globose stem, tending rapidly to become cylindrical during growth and to maintain modest heights. It is equipped with conical rather protruding and well furrowed tubercles, at the apex of which are present white and perfectly roundish areoles. From these ones protrude whitish radial spines, slender and well straight that radiate around the areoles. Instead, there is a single central spine, much longer, facing outwards and typically hooked, which fades towards an intense red-brownish and makes the appearance of this cactus truly original!
