Mammillaria breviplumosa

Beautiful exemplar of a new species of Mammillaria native to Mexico. This cactaceae has a small stem, spherical and entirely covered by soft white spines. Its protruding tubercles are green and equipped with areoles. From these areolas come out the white, thin and radially arranged spines. Mammillaria breviplumosa gives lightness and delicacy to the interior of our homes, with these small and soft spheres that seem almost surreal. An additional touch of grace is added at the time of flowering: its funnelshaped flowers bloom at the apex of the stem and are sometimes even larger than the plant itself. The petals are light pink and have a vertical central line in fuchsia that creates a wonderful contrast and attracts attention. This plant grows in rocky areas (in Mexico) and we can find it hidden among the rocks. To grow M. breviplumosa you have to take into account the climatic conditions of its natural habitat; being accustomed to the heat it prefers high temperatures, however not lower than 5 degrees. The appropriate temperature is around 20-25 degrees. This cactacee needs sunlight but it should not be placed under direct rays in the hottest hours of the day (in summer). It should be watered sparingly, in the summer once a week to avoid water stagnation and root rot. The soil for this plant must be well draining and porous, specific to succulents.
