Mexican cactus with an interesting appearance, tuberous root is massive and much larger than the plant itself. It has a globular stem, slightly depressed at the apex and of an intense opaque emerald green, consisting of multiple rather pronounced conical tubercles. From hairless and reduced areoles, emerges 3 or 4 very robust and sometimes slightly curved gray spines, one of which is much longer than the others and facing outwards. At the beginning of spring M. boelderliana will delight you with wonderful funnel-shaped flowers, in which the creamy white of the petals is interrupted by pinkish median stripes for an extremely elegant and ornamental overall effect!
